What is e-document and where to be found in e-business?
Sum of data is representing a piece of information having an usable univocal meaning and consequently the value. A document is the case of such piece of information or of group of information to be exchanged between two business partners in e-business.
As data today are existing in computer systems, the digital piece of information or electronic form of the document is indeed the resource related and original form. All other forms (paper, fax, verbal description) are changeable forms and copies that in the process of the preparation might have the possibility of the occurrence of errors and of misrepresentations.
EDI
E-business use computerized electronic data interchange (EDI - Electronic Data Interchange) for the exchange of electronic documents between business partners. These are the business operations that do not need unnecessary misinterpretations on other media (paper, fax, verbal descriptions).
Use of information and communication technologies
E-business includes the use of all forms of information and communication technology in business processes between retail, manufacturing and service organizations, between providers of data, state government and consumers.
In this process following two elements are of particular importance:
- e-documents are replacing paper documents,
- e-documents for the interchange are standardized because of easier computerized interpretation in different systems.
